18650 cells. Anyone after any?

I have a chance to buy a silly amount of cells. All pulls from unused laptop packs. Anyone after any, as I have to buy the lot to get them, and I don't fancy having 300+ cells kicking about.

All cells will be tested, balanced to storage voltage, and tested again before being sent out. Not sure on price, as I need to see what kind of interest there is first.

You get first dibs.  ;) Do you have a rough idea on quantity Marty? If I can get confirmations for, say, half of them, I'm happy to get them.

Ali, Ben Wright may be interested in them if you wanted me to contact him.
He makes battery packs and gets through a lot of cells...

Feel free Les. The more I can sell on, the cheaper I can put them out. I'll see if I can snag a few random ones to get a picture or two up, and some specs.

i've just bought myself a stock of new Panasonic genuine brand new ones from the states. Theres so much shite for sale on ebay - i've been stung in the past. The majority of stuff is old half fucked laptop cells that are on their last legs and have simply been re-wrapped with ultrafire logo.

That said, i'm forever getting through them so i might consider some of yours as i trust that you can vouch for them. I could take between either 14 or 28 off your hands depending how much you're asking each? I assume that as they've been pulled out of laptops that they are not individually protected cells?

They will not be protected, but anything with a decent driver will take care of that. Ditto for charging.

I will indeed be testing every single cell that goes out. Not a chance I'm being associated with duff/dangerous cells.

I have a list with interested people, and where stated, rough numbers of cells wanted (I've posted this on AN and ME as well). So far, so good. I'll talk to the source on Monday, and see what I can get regarding capacity/brand etc, as I know most people are waiting for this.

The only thing you will need to do, if using cells individually, is to make sure the contacts are smooth (30 seconds with a dremel).

Majiks that make light's come on, lol.

18650's are high performance Lithium Ion cells commonly used in a number of lamps, and are also the things inside your laptops battery pack. Bloody expensive if you go through the usual/retail route. I have got my mitts on a load of them, and am offering themt way cheaper than retail. I'd better do them cheap, I don't fancy taking a bath on them and having 300+ of them kicking around...

I *think* the Sten's use them, but I have no idea in what configuration. 2 in parallel seems to ring a bell. Anyone with a Sten, and knowledge of the pack care to volunteer some more information?

Doug,
You can't just put them into a lamp. They will need some protection circuitry as well...
Without it they can go wrong, often quite spectacularly, as they did on the 787 Dreamliner recently...
