Caving for Charity

Hi everyone,

My name's Dave and I've been chatting to Ian about doing a charity event to raise some cash for the NSPCC and he tells me some people here are interested?

I've been thinking for a while of something to do and it popped into my head on the way to work; camping underground for 3 days!  It'll surely turn some heads and hopefully get the donations flowing - not exactly overdone is it

I'd be looking to do things in this kind of (rough) order:

- Journey and event planned out (hopefully with some of you )
- Website sorted online for the cause & donations
- Start the ad campaign; contacting papers, local radio anything that can drive traffic to the website for donations and get a bit of a buzz going, perhaps even a bit of the old fashioned way of raising money
- The event
- a good piss-up
- Media again to tell the story and hopefully drive the donations to the website.

That's it roughly.

Anyone interested?  All input appreciated and I'll try and come to meet you guys shortly at the Dolphin within the next 2 to 3 weeks.

My suggestion was Hendre Mine.  This is because if I have to go it with just me and my cousin I know it's pretty safe.  Ian mentioned some of you had something more fun in mind though? I'm all ears!

Hi Steve,

I know a little girl who was physically abused and taken away from her mother after the injuries were discovered by the nursery school.

It opened my eyes to just how rife it is with things like that and the NSPCC do a lot to try and help the kids that suffer or have suffered.

I wanted to do some charity work this year so thought the NSPCC was a good cause.

Hi Dave, I'm currently living on the Wirral (i believe thats where you're from) so if you need a lift one Thursday you're more than welcome.

As for the camp out. I'm up for it

Arr yes that's it.  Does the Italian still have it?  Last time I was there last year there were things like ore around the place as decorations.  I take it these are from UCET?

Hi well I work in Bromborough but live in Shotton in Deeside.  I don't get home until after 7 but if you were coming through around that time or after, that would be cool thanks.

You mean "Pepe" and he wasn't Italian (nice guess though)  

He has retired and the "ore" was courtesy of both GCC (Grosvenor Caving Club) and also UCET
