Location
SH 772 577

Directions
This one is near Betws y Coed and is along the riverside footpath that takes you from Betws y Coed, past Swallow falls and up to “The Ugly House”.

It is close to the miners Bridge and there are several areas around there that are fenced off with signs saying “Danger mine etc.” but it is not those.

The huge giveaway is an ochre impregnated stream running across the footpath which immediately takes you to an adit flooded (as usual) to chest depth

Access
It is ungated and accessible but is on Forestry Commission land and their permission would be required.

Suggested Equipment
Unknown

Length
Over 4000 feet

Flood risk
It is immediately flooded to, around, chest depth. Although logic suggests it should become shallow the further you enter â€" this is not always the case.

Mine Attributes
Unknown but probably lead

Description
It is known that this is the drainage adit for the Coed Mawr Pool Mine of which the only known entrance is the engine shaft (which would require an abseil (and locating)).

In fact, the entrance is dammed with natural debris that has fallen from above the adit entrance (dirt etc.) and it is unlikely that the water level will reduce whilst this dam exists.

Potentially exciting as it is entirely unexplored but very deep water for (probably) a sustained distance.

Unexplored Passages
Nothing has been explored

Digs
None Known
