A trip is on to Clogwyn fuwch Mine ....

The mine is a slate mine and has some rather splendid iron formations inside. It isn't a big mine and no equipment is required (lamp/lid obviously).

Should be dry - no water.

There are several entrances stacked up the hillside so there will be some scrambling up some spoil tips to gain entry to the higher levels.

Very easy meander - photo opportunity of course ...

(It won't be a long day)

Meet time is 11:00am at Trefriw - meeting on the pub car park (Fairy Falls or Fairy Glen - I can't remember) Opposite the road that takes you up to Crafnant.

We will be parking at Crafnant lake car park and it "may" be a pay & display now

Hi Ian,

Any chance you could make the meet time a bit later 10:45ish? (as it is  short day  ). That would mean I could amke the trip then?

Thanks,

Ali :)

okies .... It will be good to see Richard again (I know you now) and to meet Griffo (Mike) - Yes, I will bring a spare lid :)

.... This isn't a large mine and isn't very demanding.

It is, however, next to Klondyke lead mine and we could do that too (time permitting). If we do it is in the stream/river bed with numerous entrances and you WILL get wet    - just a thought :P

Bring wellies and spare trousers if you want to do Klondyke (and if there is enough time)

:)

It would be great to do the Klondyke as well if possible.

This is the first mine that Bella and I 'discovered' all on our own, and wondered into without helments or lights or boots. So it was just a matter of groping and seeing how scared we would get before turning back.  We later found Ian's film with Weston in the very same mine holes, and from that we later contacted Ian - and my whole life changed.....

In the beginning there was the Klondyke....

You were quicker - that's true.  I think the main factor is you are a better driver than I am

The other point to note is that I saw the reaction from the 4 cyclists as you went past them ;)
