Location
SJ 195 656 (Approx)

Directions
At Rhydymywyn, take the Nant Alyn Road and head to the caravan park.
The Adit is on the opposite side of the river to the caravans, just above river level and halfway along the caravan park.

Access
Unknown. Ungated.

Suggested Equipment
None.

Length
300 feet (in excess)

Flood Risk
Work has been carried out to allow this adit to drain but the drain is blocked. As you go further into the mine the silt climbs and the water level rises. There is a risk of flooding.

Mine Attributes
Lead

Description
Known to connect to Rhyd Alyn, this adit may now be impassable.

After only a couple of hundred feet the gloopy silt mud deepens with a layer of water on it’s surface. Each footstep attempts to remove your wellie and within another 100 feet the silt and water are close to the ceiling.

This is all rather odd.

In wetter weather it may not be possible to get even this far.

However, it may be possible to travel further by “sliding” on top of thick silt (perhaps in a wet suit) providing the water doesn’t make this impossible.

It seems unlikely that this will ever improve naturally especially as the exit has been purposely blocked (with a drain which has now failed). It is also unlikely that the huge silt build up could realistically be removed by hand.

Unexplored Passages
Beyond the first 300 feet is unexplored

Digs
None Known

Last time I looked at this the portal appeared to have collapsed (over 8 years ago). It would probably need a digger to cut a channel to the Alyn and NRW would be _very_ unhappy as its part of the SSSI.

Mick you know noel and Wendy  from the pen y from farm at the top. You access the shaft at the top via their field.
He was telling me there was a day level that went it quite far that had a. Gate half way down. The entrance is in the woods. He knows the family that owns the woods. There was an old factory down there that did electrical stuff. I’ll see if he can’t remind me who it is. Ring me later if you want.

Tunnel entrance somewhere between river and road in woods[/quote]I'm pretty sure that isn't the Llyn y Pandy adit treacle.  The one you are describing is the one where I found the can of 'chandy' (a 1950s version of Top Deck shandy) it has been discussed before. If you give me a few minutes, I'll crank my enigma machine up and post the link. In a nutshell though, you are 2 lodes away from Llyn y Pandy. I'm going to pre-empt Murph telling me I'm wrong, as we have often disagreed on the matter  :P
