Location
SH 764 780 (Approx)

Directions
Park at the end of the road off “Bangor Road” outside “Roland Young” (a transport depot or something).

At the end of this road is a gate and to the side  a stile over the fence. The mine is DIRECTLY UP but you gave to follow the path leading to the right until you see some quarry workings and watch “appears” to be a spoil heap â€" leave the path and make for this â€" it is actually a small reservoir (now empty).

Once there, double back on yourself heading towards where you parked but gain altitude. You will quickly see a path going high to the left to a scree bank that looks like spoil but isn’t. Go UP to that and pick up a path higher which will take you the mine overlooking where you parked.

It is close to the top of the mountain.

Access
Open but a tight squeeze to get in â€" easy to push soil into the entrance in front of you though.

Suggested Equipment
None. Perhaps a short rope to make getting out easier but there is nothing to tie it to outside.

Length
300 yards

Flood Risk
None apparent â€" there was ankle deep water at the entrance with a water mark that suggested it is usually a few inches higher.

Mine Attributes
Unknown â€" probably copper or lead

Description
A short mine with some interesting attributes. Evidence of the railway/tramway is still present in the first part of the mine as well as some wooden timbers. There are a few artefacts (bucket, bottle etc).

Minerals are forming with several deposits of iron and sulphur. A few “nails” are hanging a good distance and are pretty.

Whatever was being mined is visible at the end of the drive but we could not identify it.
