I have noticed that some times when I go to the UCET site it logs me in straight away but other times it starts me as a guest with a login page. Even if I tick the "remember me" box I still get this screen each time (e.g. it has forgotton me. Then suddenly I am automatically logged each time again. It seems to go in cycles. Not a devastating issue but a slight annoyance really (mostly annoying because it asks for me to be remembered then doesen't...)

it'll be an issue with your browser. do you have it set to flush browsing 'history' every few days or something like that?

No, not that I am aware of. I log straight in on UKC, Wessex and BCA forums most times without any issues. It is a behaviour that I have only really noticed on the UCET site...

i think it might be reset everytime i do a manual sync between various database's in the background...... need to investigate further.

Big changes on the horizon - various software upgrades have been released.

Just had to log in again to read this. I ticked the remember me box again. I'll wait and see.

Don't waste too much time on it Tim, it is only a minor irritation, just hoped for a quick fix.

Why? Did you have trouble finding llanymynech???

Still needing to log in every time, despite ticking the remember me box every time.
Is this using cookies Tim?

Les,

For some reason there are some sites that force me to log in every time even when I tick the box. Most don't (including this one) but others are infuriating. There must be some commonality though ...... only the devil knows what it is

Your Wezzit did have me foxed - I should have considered Llanymynech but my brain was geared to "substantial cave" and I completely overlooked it

Once you said further south I knew in an instant since it is the only one and THEN I recognised it. FFS :side:

It could have been Lower Ceriog Cave...
(I will remember that for next time, I'm sure I have some photos somewhere).

To get back on topic, I didn't used to have to log on, then it forced me to every time for a few days/weeks, then it went back to logging me in automatically again and now in the last few days it has reverted to forcing me to log in each time again. I only mentioned it in case Tim was "fettling" the site and had changed something. It's no biggie, just annoying...

I understand ....

I know you are on all the other underground websites too ....

I am logged in at home on Adit now and received an email at work I had a PM. I tried like fook to log on but it would not let me. I even retrieved my password) which I had right but still could not log in.

When I got home, I was already logged in and had immediate access.

Voodoo

yes, it does use cookies for log-on as you may/may not know these can work well or not depending on loads of different factors, browsers deal with them in different ways etc etc. It would probably be worth flushing all your cookies etc from time to time.

Its 'probably' an issue with your browser getting cookies mucked up - it works fine for me and as far as i know most other people.

cookies do 'expire' over time (depending on your browser/settings) and that would explain the occasional requirement to re-enter details. If its doing it all the time a flush of your cookies might be a good idea and may well fix it.

Currently having lofg on issues again. Sometimes I log on to be still not logged on. It's happened three or four times in succession before it would accept me as logged in, then dumped me again a few minutes later.

Crowgirl has reported the exact same issue - she is using Firefox.

When I am logging on, sometimes I get a "Page not found" error (I am using Windows something or other) and, on my office computer (Using Microsoft Small Business Server) I always get error messages saying the page is running a long script do I wish to abort ?

I have the same problem as Les and Crowgirl.  I use Linux and Furfox on one box, and Windoze and Furfox on another. I also notice that it can take ages to log on to the UCET site, and I assume that the display of lovely pictures on the index page is really greedy on band width, and I am miles from the Bangor telephone exchange.
