Is it just me, or is the website running quite slow at the moment?

Ian A

It's not just you Joel ...

Tim,

Any idea what's going on?

Also ... any news on being able to sort topics into alphabetical order (knowledge bank)?

  :P :( :side:  :S

hmm. i noticed it was going slow the other day but its going lightning fast now. I'll keep my eye on it over the next few days. Since when have you noticed it going slower?

R.e. the alphabetical issue - they have stated it'll be included in the next release of Kunena, but there is not yet a release date. I'd speculate at another couple of months.

On the plus point i have managed to modify some scripts for the photo uploading system which has ironed out the bugs. Also i've got some more php memory available at the server which means you shouldn't have any more problems with that side of things. So, now you should be able to upload pretty much any sized image and it will sort it out for you without having to rescale etc.

It's still very slow for me Tim (waiting about 45 secs for a page to load each time)

hmm... dunno why that would be - nothings changed for ages..... might be either your provider (although unlikely if other sites are working ok) or a loading issue on the server. If its proves to be a problem over a prolonged period then i'll get in touch with Hostpapa (Who run our virtual server)

I'm still struggling with the site. Getting a 5mb downstream via speedtester.net too.

Ian A

Gone REALLY slow - couldn't load the "news page" at all and had to wait 5 mins just for this page to load

i'm not experiencing any delays in the north sea - maybe i'm just lucky with the time i'm loading the pages. I'll keep retesting throughout the day.

When would you say that you first noticed long delays. Also, what browser are you using (and what version number?)

If its any help (or even if its no help :silly: ) I haven't experienced any slowness.
I am using my HTC phone and it all loads immediately over a broadband WiFi link.

yes, i've never had any slowness issues here either. I've run every type of test available and its never showing any problems from the server. So for the poeple (3 of you) who are having problems its most likely due to either a problem with your ISP or a problem on your computer preventing it from running the required scripts etc.

All the people with slowness.......please read on.....

Who is your ISP?

Which browser and which version number of that browser are you using?

Make sure your using the latest up to date version of your browser. Try clearing your cookies, all internet temporary files etc etc - google for help if you don't know how to do this for whichever browser you are using.

Also try clearing you JAVA cache as per the instructions here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml

Also, while doing the JAVA cache, use the 'update' tab to ensure you are using the latest version.

Turn off your internet hub - i.e. pull out the power plug and leave it off for 5-10mins and then turn it back on.

Hostpapa doing my head in..... and yes Les, i know what you're going to say! Overloaded servers - 99.9% uptime - in their dreams.

I did better running an old pc as a server from home - which i might be going back to soon (for some other applications) in which case I'll probably move the ucet site onto it.
