Can I make a plea for members of this forum to check and update their email addresses in their profile as soon as possible.

Sadly a large number of members register, edit their profile and thinks that's that. Keeping your email address up-to-date means that you will get notifications of private messages, updates to any threads you have posted on and, more importantly, the ability to recover from a lost or forgotten password.

We are in the process to moving to a new forum based on SMF. While all the forum boards, topics and current members have been moved across (Topics are a snapshot dated 20/2/25) the one thing which cannot be moved are the encrypted passwords as the format is different. This means that the password you currently use to access the forum will not work on the test forum. You need to select the option 'forgotten password' and the system will email you a link so you can reset your password [you can still keep using the same plaintext password - the system only stored a hashed version]. If your email address is out-of-date then you are unlikely to see the email the system sends you. Please check your spam folders as sometimes the forgotten password mail can end up there :-(

People experiencing problems due to having a new email address could ask me, but this is going to involve a lot of time handling individual requests and it is so much easier if people update this server and I will attempt to keep email addresses synchronised between the current and test forums on a weekly basis.

The test forum is at https://ucet.anduin.org.uk  - Please try it out, use password recovery and login

In due course the test forum will replace the existing one and you will still access it with the ucet.org.uk
domain name.

Thank you,

Dave
