Hiya All,

Next Thursday we have x2 TRIPS, Thorntree Shaft will hopefully be rigged (under guidance) by those who learnt some rigging skills last week in Hendre. - Thorntree will be for competent SRT cavers & members only and will be limited to 10 places MAX.

TRIP 1:

Pearl Shaft is a 'walkabout' mine with some squeezes and is considered sporty.
This is a lead mine with a fixed ladder entrance pitch of, around, 60 feet (20m). Once down, some of the passages are a little squeezy. There are a couple of short, rope assisted areas. There is also an area of crinoids (if you know where to look) as well as a nice sphalerite vein (again, if you know where to look). You will get muddy.

Suitable for novices with some experience, not suitable for debut cavers. Tripod and Lifeline will be taken.

Meet Place : Halkyn Quarry
Meet Time : 6:30pm-6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves, Belt/Harness mandatory for lifeline down

I don't think I'll make this one, but if I do I'm happy to do pearl as I've still done neither.

Happy to do either trip. Happy to coach rigging too if needed, or not do the SRT if someone wants the practice.

Well you’ll prob end up heading in alone.
There’s more planes in the sea than there are submarines in the sky
