What is Silence

The fluttering wings of a butterfly, the sound of a cloud passing by
the beating heart of a sleeping mouse, the twitch of a resting fly

the fall of a droplet of water, before it reaches the ground
or when crystals of ice form a snowflake,  is there a quieter sound

well an opening flower in the morning, when a leaf turns to face the light
or the sun setting on the horizon, or the moon peering out of the night

a flickering candle at midnight, a feather drifting aloft
a spider creating a web in the dark, a pillow thats fluffy and soft

when an avalanch comes to a halt, when a baby is put to the breast
the quiet that follows an earthquake, or the end of a nuclear test

these things are almost silent, but silence has more to behold
in a poem thats never been written, or a story thats yet to be told
