TRIP #3

Ste's Dig at the Secret Copper Mine,

Ste requires some assistance,t one of the digs we have ongoing if anyone is available a. One person is needed to assist Ste & Mike inside the mine and then a small team is needed outside of the mine to dig a trench to lower the waters inside the mine. Tools will be needed such as shovels and anything else to aid you with digging a trench.

Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves. You should bring a change of clothes as water is over waist deep at the entrance and in parts throughout.

NOTE: message myself, Gaz or Ste directly if you want the location information for this dig. Or, link to the private thread from a past trip there - http://www.ucet.org.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=9&id=11437&Itemid=191#45142

If you do fancy coming and you need to borrow equipment (like a lid/lamp) then you MUST reply to the UCET forum so that we know to bring the stuff you need.

Thanks !

And Simpsons for those that have done Swinsto

Kieran Thomas Wyatt

Absolutely! Also CNCC newsletter yesterday mentioned the repositioning of anchor points to make the pull through better in Swinsto, so ropes don't get caught. So we either schedule before so they give it a go as is, or wait for new anchors, either is easy enough done though:)
Thanks,
Kieran

Actually to correct myself, it's already been done, they just need to remove the old anchors. Quoted text below

"Several months ago, the CNCC agreed to support an audit and partial re-anchoring of these pots. New anchor installation at Swinsto began at the start of the year and was completed in early June. An updated rigging topo has now been published on our website.

Later this summer, the team will return to remove defective or surplus anchors which are not shown on the new topo, tidy up any resin from the new anchors and remove in-situ tat that has been abandoned. Work will then start on Simpson Pot."http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/64a50f3564702/CNCC_Topo_Swinsto_Hole.pdf
