UCET Thursday Trip Advisor

Howdy Doody,

Here are the details for our next Thursday night trip;

Location : Pearl Shaft
Meet Place : Halkyn Quarry
Meet Date : Thursday 15th December 2022
Meet Time : 6:30pm-6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves, cows tails (optional)

This is the turning immediately after the main quarry entrance. Follow it round to the obvious parking place a couple hundred yards down.

Notes : This is a lead mine with a fixed ladder entrance pitch of, around, 40 feet. Once down, some of the passages are a little squeezy. There are a couple of short, rope assisted areas. There is also an area of crinoids (if you know where to look) as well as a nice sphalerite vein (again, if you know where to look). You will get muddy.

Suitable for novices with some experience, not suitable for debut cavers.

STOP PRESS! Next week’s trip will be to Ogof Nadolig (Christmas Cave) and you MUST be wearing a Santa Outfit. No Santa Outfit means you will NOT be caving. You can buy them from Ebay and Amazon (Amazon prime is next day delivery).
