Howdy Doody,

This Thursday 14th October, we have TWO trips, one is non-SRT and the other is full SRT.

Trip #1 Non-SRT
Location : Pearl Shaft
Meet Place : Halkyn Quarry
Meet Date : Thursday 14th October 2021
Meet Time : 6:30pm-6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves, cows tails (optional)

Trip #2 SRT (Same location)
Location : Thorntree Shaft
Meet Place : Halkyn Quarry
Meet Date : Thursday 14th October 2021
Meet Time : 6:30pm-6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves, Full SRT

This is the turning immediately after the main quarry entrance. It doesn’t look quite the same now, there is a high wire fence in situ but the lane is obviously still there.

Notes : Trip #1 (non-SRT) has an entrance shaft of, around, 60 feet with a fixed ladder. Some of the passages are small and squeezy. There is a short, rope assisted free climb and also an awkward slot down to the main passage. If you know where to look you can find pre-historic crinoids and, in the opposite part of the mine, a nice band of dog’s tooth crystal.

We could really do with a “leader” for this trip please.

This trip is suitable for novices with some experience, not suitable for debut cavers.
