It was UCETs'
Thursday night 'Trip of the week'
With the old pros' Doug, Murf, and Glen.

"Forty years!" says Murf
"Searching out this den",
The long lost mine, Garreg Boeth.

"Feel that draft
Keep the grit from your eyes
Water's just welly deep inside."

Slosh round the gour
Dodge the black 'tites.
Doug's all awash in his waders!

A superman stretch
The commando crawl
Step over the crinoids along the floor

'tis natures work, that
Miners picks have exploited
Cleaving lead ore for the lords.

In tracing their tracks
We advance on the breakdown
The final two chambers to go

Three make the squeeze
Where in 2015, Doug and Crazy
Had not got much further.

Now just for sport
Doug scouts out for more
Engulfed by the hard pitchy gloom

Mad Mick and me
Quietly wait, watch and listen
'as our friend gone, 'as 'e 'ad it?

"FIVE  MINUTES!" is cried
From back down the line
Gingerly, wrapped in the darkness

The party's all split
Once I beat my retreat
Strung out through the tunnels of Garreg.

Newbies soon coalesce
Killing time for the rest
In the abscence of anything better.

Again voices are heard
With the victors returned
Doug's actually found some new places

So as cavers united
We push to the portal
Filth festooned under a dusky sky

Shut the shop up
Get changed for The Glan
A brew, with good news for our mates

A possible breakthrough
That may need to be rigged
A dig that could end in 6

like the way you finished it, you have been paying attention  ;)

mick murphy

nice one squirrel, the last part ended when mike dropped a boulder on my lap and crushed you know what I was
lucky as it had only pinned down 6 inches and there was 6 inches spare for me to grab to pull it out from under the boulder, no doubt there will be comments like listen to him blowing his own trumpet just between me and you I was no good at maths, but watch this space as next week I will be digging a place were me and mike
think there could be a connection
