Next Thursday's trip will consist of x2 TRIPs. Both at the same location: Pearl Shaft & Thorntree shaft. Pearl Shaft will be a 'walkabout' mine with some squeezes and is considered sporty. Thorntree will be for competent SRT cavers only and will be limited to 10 places MAX.

Meet Place : Halkyn Quarry
Meet Date : Thursday 2nd November 2023
Meet Time : 6:30pm-6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves, Full SRT - if doing Thorntree shaft, Cows tails (Optional for Pearl Shaft)

Link to Parking: goo.gl/maps/Z4YmeFgNBYS1P9Ev6

TRIP 1 - Pearl Shaft

This is a lead mine with a fixed ladder entrance pitch of, around, 60 feet (20m). Once down, some of the passages are a little squeezy. There are a couple of short, rope assisted areas. There is also an area of crinoids (if you know where to look) as well as a nice sphalerite vein (again, if you know where to look). You will get muddy.

Suitable for novices with some experience, not suitable for debut cavers.

TRIP 2 - Thorntree Shaft - SRT ONLY (10 MAX) - If not being pumped with water

Limited to only 10 spaces, subject to whether water is being pumped down the shaft.
