I am considering taking on the cost myself.  I always felt that after being invited to (or gatecrashing!) many parties in the past it is time I gave something back.  After all Doug does not charge for the annual hogroast and he is offering me use of the Huntsmans for free.
Just sent an enquiry to the Stamford Gate as regards a sit down meal especially as we have used that venue before and had a great night.  I will also ask at the Glan yr Afon.

Thanks for the feedback.  As many of you prefer a sit-down meal, I e-mailed the Beaufort Park Hotel near Mold where they may be able to fit us in.  Here is their response:

Hi Gregory

Many thanks for your email.

Would you be looking to join onto our Christmas party night event?  I currently have availability on this evening, this would be a shared space with a disco and a 3 course festive meal.

I do not have any availability for an exclusive party.

If you would like to book this, I would need a £10.00 per person non refundable deposit with full payment by Wednesday 23rd November

Kind Regards

Hannah

Thanks Kieran

Will people be happy with Beaufort Park?  I need to make the booking sooner rather than later.  I am thinking of reserving for 60 people, they currently have availability for up to 100.  I do not know yet how many members + partners will be coming along.

Sounds good to me, thanks Greg. Lets see what other members say

I was a bit worried about some people having to travel to the venue and especially getting home.  I will go with Beaufort as my first option but will still need a Plan 'B' (after which there are only 24 letters left in the alphabet!).  I have been trying to phone the Beaufort but there's nobody at the desk at the mo so I am going to send them an e-mail saying I am interested.

I'd be happy with there also and probably a plus one for me, see if Ian can get a circular sent out perhaps to ask members to comment if they and a partner may join so you can get an idea of numbers, include a deadline on it but a note to say can possibly add on people at later dates perhaps

Thanks Kieran.  Just sent Beaufort an e-mail saying I would like to book.  Need to shut down now as I need to get some shut-eye as I have to suffer the indignity of work tonight!

Further update on the situation:  Stamford Gate has just got back to me saying that can accommodate us on Dec 3rd.  Here is their response:

to me

Good Afternoon Gregory,

Thank you for your email enquiry. We can accommodate your booking on Saturday 3rd December. This would stay a private booking for yourselves (minimum of 40 guests).

There will be Christmas music in the background. If you require a DJ please let us know (additional charge).
We would require £10 per person deposit with the balance 4 weeks prior to the booking.

Our menu is will be available to send across next week.

If you have any other questions or would like to provisionally reserve that date, please do not hesitate to contact me further.

Kind Regards,

Emma

It looks like I have got two choices for a Christmas venue (three if I include Doug's old pub!).

Therefore I need to know which booking I need to make and therefore would like a bit of feedback:

1.  The Beaufort Park Hotel, Mold,
They will fit us in a Christmas Party Night on Dec 3rd with three course meal and disco.
You may need to make travel/accommodation arrangements with that venue.

2.  The Stamford Gate Hotel, Holywell.
We have used the Stamford on a previous occassion and had a great night there and the advantage
with that venue is that it is within walking distance from the Glan-yr-Avon.

I'm fine with the Stamford Gate or the Beaufort.
What beer do they have on though? The beer selection at Springfields is always crap so know what ale they have might sway me...  ;)
I'm a very busy person

Sounds good to me Greg. Cheers

A proper venue would be our preference! :-)

Evening all.
So I’m back and will throw my two pence in.
Bph is my first option or second Holywell.

Alternatively if it all goes wrong there is the  offer of the bowling green naturally.

Keep up the good work Greg.r

Either will do for me Greg, cheers
