Here is some info on the Old Holloway Vein:

The Western workings of the vein were drained by the Gorsedd Level which, travelling North becomes The Tre Eden Owen Day Level.  The connection with the Gorsedd level is via a branch vein 37 yards north of the Old Holloway Vein (Which I assume is directly North from the Coetia Eithin Shaft (now lost due to modern house with extensive grounds)

The vein travelled West and terminates appoximately below Lloc Chapel and travels East as far as Pant.

Here is an overlay I've done detailing the features:

I don't think so, when digging in the shaft Thursday evening John had to come out when water started gushing out from the mine faster than we could pump it away, I think this could mean we are close to the end of the silt.

If you funnel a 2 mile mine's worth of water into a 1/4" hose pipe and put your thumb over the end (your thumb being the restriction / silt in the mine),  When you release your thumb, you will see a full bore of water coming out of the hose due to the 'head' of water that has built up   Eventually, the head of water will reduce and the local water table will find it's 'organic' level.  Let's see what happens.  I'm cautiously opomistic about this dig to be honest. There is no reason to suggest we won't enter into 'walk in' passage any day soon  :)

I wouldn't waste my Thursday nights if I didn't think it was a goer. I abandoned my Bryn Celyn dig for this one.  ;)
