firts off - the UCET basic SRT training = fook awesome

and the foundation skills - are the absolute most important bit - that MUST be taught corretly

and UCET does this brilliantly

now  - this is NOT a critiscism - but [ yeah there is always a but ........ ]

could the club include an intermeditate and an advanced session - for the people who are beyond needing to be drilled on " best practice " to clip into a traverse  and basic safe descent // assent techniques

it seems - to me at least - that the club just ignores people - once the foundational skills are in place - and advancement is ad-hoc " on the job " - development - with no coherent plan or unified method - to get people to the " next level " - with no bad habits , or ommissions

the reason for this post - is that i has done rigging or assistance on several trips - with people i has never met - and if i ask them what thier SRT experience is :

i get back the answer - i has done the UCET training lessons with budgie etc

and its obvious that the ones that paid attention - do everything they were told - correctly - with no fuss

and its the same in other clubs

but - further development - is " all over the place " - with best practice not always followed and no evidence that anyone has properly given any coherent instruction - just ad-hoc

so - could we think about a pair of lessons - to get people to " next level " and beyond - with a clear structured training plan - that puts everyone at the deseried skill set and knowledge

just like the foundation course - turns utter noviced into people capable of ascend // descent a given rope

i stop here  cos its descending to babble

TIA

Hi Andrew the training did contain a lot more than we do now. I found that there was too much for people to remember and most was forgotten. We always ask people to come back on the basis course to help to teach where I find they learn a lot more, unfortunately we haven't done any for some time. I apologise. We can look at extra training so if you or anyone has any suggestions let me know.
