Colours of December

As December drew the curtain, and another year was spent
I was in a woodland clearing, still wondering where it went
the forest leaves had turned to gold, and fallen to the ground
leaving holly trees and ivy, with the only green around
but the berries lit the forest up and reflected winter light
as they sprinkled fire among the trees like spangles in the night
then snowflakes fell like parachutes delicate and slow
until the golden clearing, had a carpet of new snow
then a new year came, to claim its place, on a canvas white and bold
with hopes and fears of all the world, between a new year and the old

How lovely, nearly made me cry!

My December colour is drab grey that depress the fuck out of me, so yours are very cheering.  Thank you.  :)
