i've free hung abseiled off a belt - i'm still here.

It was actually more comfy than i thought but obv. not to be recommended!

More practical though - great for hanging shite off and according to my mate Gok Wan its very flatterring if worn clinched up under the moobs :-)

I shall be sure to tell budgie that you all said he's wrong, and that using a belt is perfectly safe.

Tim Watts

obv. my and everyone else advice is NOT to!

Do as I say, not as i do! ;-) ;-)

to be fair, i've never used a belt, but i've hung off a fall arrest harness, it was horrid and hurt like hell, i cant see a belt been any better

A belt isn't any better but, in fairness, you aren't supposed to be doing anything other than recovering your position. Does it matter if it is slightly less comfy than a harness whilst you step back onto the ladder you just fell off (as an example) ?

spose not, my biggest worry is, my waste is bigger than my chest, i may just fall out of a belt

Might go up to Bernie's this week to get a furry and a caving suit. Quite keen on the £100 deal for for Beever and furry, but is it worth paying a bit extra for a WarmBac?

Also, if I go, does anyone need anything picking up whilst I'm there?

If you feel the cold beaver do a deluxe furry for a little bit more cash and that does keep you warm.

Try them on Tony .....

The Warmbac may be a little more restrictive but it is the better suit.

They do have a changing room althoug it isn't fabricated from the latest technology  ;)

After looking around the t'internet it does seem like the Warmbac is more hard wearing than the Beaver, so will probably opt for the Warmbac oversuits.

As for the undersuit, I see fleece ones, and neo/fleece. What do people think of the neo/fleece undersuits?

but you wouldnt use it for the same trips that you would use a fleece for.

you would be best starting with a fleece and as you start getting on more trips which involve more water, then look at a neofleece / wet suit
