UCET Thursday Trip Advisor

Hello all,

Here are the details for our next Thursday night trip;

Location : Maeshafn Mine
Meet Place : Maeshafn
Meet Date : Thursday 27th July 2023
Meet Time : 6:30pm-6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves

Post Code : CH7 5LR

Meet Place is the Village green here; https://shorturl.at/cFJY5

Parking is 200 yards away here;
https://shorturl.at/rOP57

Notes : This is a lead mine with a “Derbyshire Key” lid. There is a squeezy section early on (4 feet) then an internal incline down to the workings. Some of the mine accepts water in wet weather and this can leave muddy water. Be prepared to need a change of clothes. Knee pads recommended.

Suitable for novices with some experience, not suitable for debut cavers.

If you do fancy coming, please reply to the UCET Forum thread.

In addition, if you fancy digging in Denbigh then please reach out to Ste or Mike, they could use some help and they can give you instructions etc.
Thanks,
Kieran

Hi, I went down Penarth last weekend, would this trip be suitable for me? I think I'd be ok.

Hi Oz, this is the opposite end to what we did on Saturday.
So there's a "squeeze" to negotiate quite early on in the trip, there's also some other optional tight sections that you could do. There's also a very steep muddy incline to climb up. This has a hand line to help with the climb. There will be other dangers that you will find with Mine/Cave exploration, the more experienced should point these out to you.
I'll let you decide whether the above description is suitable for yourself

Ill try and get back in time to along to join you guys on this one.

I'm from NWCC and am interested in joining yourselves.

Hope to see you there.
