bog mine through trip is a bigsih (75ish Meter from memory - we tied two 50m's last time) single pitch ab down a shaft then some hairy in situ rope internal shafts (up and down) - freeclimbed (but can be protected with jammers / stop). Then some nice sections over false floors that have vanished in places with nice traverses etc Then lots of interesting ladders on the way out.

All sounds good in terms of flexibility....except OHA that i'd selfishly try to persuade for Monday :-) :-) :-)

OHA Monday will be fine.
Have you ever been to Lower Ceriog Cave? It's an interesting little hole and is on the way home for us so might do as a Tuesday trip. Just a thought...

Maybe a Croesor/Rhossydd trip or Cwmorthin on Saturday, or perhaps something else slatey...

Are any of these trips happening?
  •

Les Williams

Pretty sure some of them will happen, unfortunately the final plans will probably not be made until Friday Night in the Glan...

Looks like Monday for Hesp Alyn for sure though...

Can we join you for any Non SRT trips on Saturday and Sunday?  (we being Bella and I).
Will you be publishing a program on this site at some point on Friday evening?

We all hope your son is OK Tim.  Please keep us posted.

What happened in the end?
Was it a good trip?
Did the Wessex group have a good time?
Sorry we did not meet them - may be next time.

Just got back. A cracking weekend. Sorry John, didn't see any posts on here after we left on Friday so didn't see your message :(
We went to Cwmorthin onSaturday and Ogof Nadolig on Sunday (Too wet for Hesp Alyn). Tried a through trip from New SHaft to Bog Mine on Monday but the connection was sumped! Had to prussic back up the 200ft shaft, nearly killed me... need to get fitter
Dropped into Bog Mine once we recovered from the prussic.
Finished off the weekend with a trip to Lower Ceriog Cave on the way home, a fabulous little cave, well worth a visit. There must be more stuff to find in this area as well.

MAny thanks to Rhiannon at the Brit for making us very welcome at the last moment, and a big thank you to Dougie, Crazy and Guy for meeting up and caving with us. Also thanks to Mick for turning out on Monday to rig New Shaft, just a shame the through trip was a washout...
Nice to see Mike as well last night, cheers Captain.

A big thank you to all concerned, we had yet another fantastic weekend. I really don't know anywhere else in the UK where we would get such a welcome as we always seem to get in NE Wales.

I will be back in the area for the week at the end of July/beginning of August, if anybody wants to meet for drinks or even a cave.

Les

Really sorry you couldn't make it Tim, our thoughts were with you all, hope your son is OK.

Thanks for this message Les.  I am so glad you all enjoyed the trip - and it seems that you had quite an unpredictable adventure!

I am just very sorry not to have been able to join you, and your team members.  But to be honest some of the trips you did were well beyond me!  I have done Bog mine (the right way round) and still can't believe that I managed to get down all those ladders and back up again!  What did you think of the place?

Do post a message when you are next up here in July/August.  We ought to put on a summer evening event.
