Location
SH 585 367

Directions
I think you have to walk through Portmeirion although it may be possible from the Porthmadog toll road. These caves are unmarked on the O/S map and should not be confused with the ones marked at SH 582 370 nearby

Access
Open

Suggested Equipment
None

Length
Very short â€" little more than 30/40 feet

Flood Risk
All but one are on the beach and will flood when the tide is in.

Cave Attributes
Limestone sea caves

Description
A few short caves on the beach accessible when the tide is out.

Cave #1 is very short with little more than a tapered crack which quickly becomes impassable.

Cave#2 is elevated away from the beach and is short but quite cool.  A large chamber exists with a lot of flow formations on one wall where the other wall is dry and coated with a calcium salt (probably nitrate). There is a small, blocked crawl passage in the back right corner.

Cave #3 is on the beach and is a crack which leads to a small, sea flooded chamber. It is void of decoration; no doubt as a result of being habitually battered by the sea.

Is this where you went to this weekend?  We explored these ages ago and I did not think to post pictures.  I think there is another around the corner, and also another passageway (that may have been a mine) under the house (now the main hotel).  It is easy to get to from the link passageway that goes from the concrete pirate ship to Dolphin.
