i think we should do the through trip , down new shaft and out of bog , it could be done on a thursday night easily

mike, so do i - just wait a couple of weeks until i'm back home! Pretty Please with knobs on!

I recon we'll need to replace that rope on that swinging traverse when the rocks have come down on it at the far end - or at least re-drill and bolt an anchor either side of the fall / potential damage?

Was speaking to MarC tonight about Pool Parc, and he mentioned removing removing lock on new shaft etc. He seems to think the padlock could be got at with a small battery powered grinder?

Also worked out that 4.5seconds from the Landing platform on New Shaft equates to exactly...

0.5 x 9.81 x 4.5^2 = 100meters (approx 55 Fathoms)

So, if you have a look at http://sites.google.com/site/flintshireleadmining/westminster-vein--eryrys

with this in mind then it should kinda make sense (NB you can click and zoom into the plans).

Cracking vid Ian, made me wish that I was still coming out with you guys.

Out of interest, did you bolt the passage without the floor with a safety rope? There was water beneath to cushion your fall! :P

Ian A

Safety rope?  We are complete novices and we have never done anything like this before and it was scary in the dark.

We only just learned how to use a hammer today and only one of us knew how to turn the drill on - give us a chance - we can't know everything can we ?

Bollocks, you had Murf there and he is a hardcore caver :P Good work on getting the camera crew across safely though.

Loving the idea of going down New shaft and out of bog, have been interested in the Westminster vein for a while but have never really explored it. I havent even been up the Nant Adda Adit to see the collapse there. Isn't most of the vein under water due to this?

only in the winter months  and i dont think it gets to the ceiling any more , the weight of the water has probably flushed the collapse in nant adda a little . can't you tell ian has never held a drill in his hand (most likely does'nt even own one )
