Hi everyone!

The BCA AGM is quickly approaching! And I am running for Secretary and could do with all the help I can get!
I've attended a few club meets, but nowhere near as many as I would have liked (I live in the West so attending usually requires having a day off on a Thursday which seem to be frustratingly rare in recent months).

I am running on a platform of increased openness and transparency - I want everyone to know what the BCA is up to so that everyone can feel involved and understand the important work the BCA does (or challenge decisions they view as misguided).

I myself have been caving for 5 years. I grew up in Ingleton in the Dales and now work as an outdoor instructor. In that time I've been heavily involved with starting and guiding Bangor Student Caving Club (at the time the first successful start-up student club in over a decade). While a Student I ran a Law society, the walking club, and have done every role in the caving club. In that time I've made risk assessments, used my legal background to educate around access rights, amended & rewritten constitutions, conducted audits, sat in many meetings, taken many notes, authorised spending, opened new bank accounts; taught skills from navigation & group management to bolting, rigging, and hauling; and done a LOT of caving and mine exploring.

You can find all the information you need to make your decision here at: https://british-caving.org.uk/bca-agm-2024/

To vote you need to make sure your email address is registered with the BCA. This is something your club should have provided when they take your details for your insurance. If you are worried it hasn't been please email Katie Eavis at: membership@british-caving.org.uk with your BCA number and club to help speed things along
