Communication error

I have a device in my pocket, I know that you have one too
we call it a mobile phone, but here are some things it can do

I can talk to anyone anywhere, I can answer when they speak to me
I can spend my money increasingly fast, on items I don't need to see

I can watch an old film, or a new one, I can listen to music all day
I can play candy crush or tetris, or read what the newspapers say

I can order a pizza, a burger, pay for a parking fine too
with this device in my pocket, there is nothing it seems I can't do

I have hundreds of friends on face book, and thousands of meaningful chats
and don't get me started on tick tock or X, or the U tube exploits of cats

but if I sit down with my family or friends, no one looks up from their screen
no body asks, have you had a nice day, says hello or where have you been

in fact talking with people around me, has sunk to an all time low
I can talk to anyone, anywhere, but not to the people I know
