Cantered on up to Mountskill Quarry in Helsby today for a mooch around. If you're interested in geology (which I'm not particularly) there are some good examples of sedimentary layers in the quarry wall, so it may be worth a visit. If you're into mine exploring, you're probably better off giving it a miss as there isn't too much opportunity to be below ground.
In a nutshell, a safe little mooch around, no kit needed, allow about 45 minutes.
