Hey are you going cavibg tonight? If so where are you going?
Hi Phil,
This week we are erecting a fence around a mine entrance.
You would be welcome but, in fairness, it would be an completely crap trip for you.
Ian
Ok thank you can you recommed anywhere for tonight for me and my friends please?
Favourite would be Poacher's cave;

You would need a short electron ladder for the entrance. Expect to get wet and muddy (change of clothes perhaps?)
How experienced are your friends? Do they have helmets/lamps?
I see you have done the Spar mine (also a good easy one). There are some others a little further afield (Belgrave mine in the knowledge bank for instance).
If you fancied a "squeezy" one you could do Ogof Nadolig (in the knowledge back) but there is a roped drop of 12 feet you would need to deal with.
It really depends how comfortable and experienced you all are?
:)

Im sure ive been told poachers cave is suseptable to flooding. We have been to the spar mine and the slate mine in glyn ceiriog we have the gear and we use a lot of common sense in taking care of safety. Something along the lines of the spar mine would be great as we are still starting out
I have only known Poachers flood once since 2003 (when I started caving). On that occasion the flooding prevented entry.
A lot depends on where you are based ....
How far are you away from Penarth mine ?

Ordinarily, I would be happy to come out with you and take you around the cave. Unfortunately, I am in no fit state to do so at the moment :(
Ian
Thanks if the offer still stands when your raring to go we will be happy to take it
Hi Phil, Welcome to the forum. Sorry I'm a bit late to the party on this one. Gors mine (Babell) is a nice little trip (see knowledge bank). It's a smallish mine but quite interesting. No ropes or ladders to contend with, but there is a flooded shaft in the floor to look out for and another flooded stope further in. I would be happy to come with you if you give me a bit of notice...
