Rhosydd Slate Mine Trip â€" Saturday 6th February 2016
There is a trip to Rhosydd Slate mine (Blaenau Ffestiniog) on
Sat, 6th Feb, meeting at 10:00am here;
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.9854603,-3.9656568,3a,75y,29.77h,77.35t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sxSTa5vhk6n9EmyyCNTiSgQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1?hl=en
Meet place is the “Lakeside Café†and those arriving at 10:00am will be able to grab a full breakfast. We will be leaving the café at 10:30am
The trip will be for “most of the day†and you will require a lid, wellies, some lunch and a drink. You can wear “civvies†(You don’t “need†a caving oversuit but can use one if you like).
We will be making a video of the trip and exploring the extent of the Rhoysdd mine to the Croesor Boundary.
There will be numerous photo opportunities including calcium and calcium sulphate needle crystals, an unknown iridescent mineral, an underground lake, some “in situ†winding gear and numerous chambers in various states/conditions. There are two internal inclines. There is water at the entrance adit for several hundred metres which will be around 5-6 inches in height (too much for boots but wellies will save you).
The walk from the car park to the mine entrance is around 25 minutes and is uphill for a good portion of the route. (Walking down is the reverse).
No SRT or other equipment is needed (a spare lamp/batteries are always essential). There will be no crawling but there will be some scrambling on slate boulders and “gloves†are a good idea (slate can be sharp).
The trip is suitable for novices.
If time permits, we can visit Conglog mine on the way back down from Rhosydd â€" this mine is significantly smaller and water will go over the top of wellies at the entrance adit (just over knees) so something to change into (back at the car) might be a good idea if we do this (you can choose not to enter, it is on the way back down to the car park).
There needs to be a minimum 4 people and a maximum 12 â€" please put your name down if you are coming.
If you are coming through Denbigh, I can offer a lift for 4 people and you can leave your car at my house (Be at mine for 9:00am)
Any questions â€" just ask ….

Of course you can provided you aren't skulking around, hiding in a crowd of people, sat in the upper halls of a theatre, taking covert pictures
... I think you will know a good few of the people coming too. Turbo is fetching a "group" which I guess will be some of the "gang"
;)

.... You have been on enough trips to know that not everyone will turn up :P
Also, I already have a second "leader" (I know we don't have "leaders", but you know what I mean).
Also on top of that, there is a visiting caving club coming through from Croesor who I am hoping to bump into while we are there ....
It's going to be fun :woohoo:

I know, some people have no dedication. What's with these people who only show their faces once a year
Just want to say thank you to Ian for a great day out.

Flippin' 'eck Ian, that looked fantastic! I love your videos (walking and caves before anyone starts!), your knowledge, your music, your humour - and not meaning to make you cringe, I think I love you (I love Doug too)!!!
Next time I say I can't go somewhere lovely because of bloody DIY, permission to kick me, gutted! Please go again soon.
Thank you very much
Actually "laughed out loud" at your notes in the "edit reason" box
Glad you enjoyed it - always fun to do ;)
Ian
Bloody hell shaz. Not even a mention and after I offered you my erection too! :-p speaking of which, if you want/need it I'm flying back to Manchester this evening so can drop it off to you whenever you like.

Does Sarah know about this "arrangement"
I'm not sure, but in fairness she hasn't expressed any desire for it so its only fair to let shaz use it if she likes.

are you sure your erection is fit for purpose . im not
As long as it doesn't get blown too hard it should stand up to a good bit of punishment I recon. Perhaps it might need to be tied down.
Not sure how it performs in very moist conditions though.
Its not really had much use to be honest.
In fact thinking about it, last time it was supported via scaffold.

do you mean those little blue pills that you take off shore with you
Thing is Tim, You may be able to offer a bigger erection than mine (so it is true that black ones are bigger?) but word on the street is that you have no stamina ;)
Some photos from the trip
I think I love you (I love Doug too)!!!
Flattered
Come on lads, what is this, a caving site or filth?
I've heard enough childish banter about your bloody erections and hooters now, so just stop it right.
What I'm really missing is the offer of somebodies helmet as requested! So who's coming up with the goods?
[quote="timwatts" post=28031]Bloody hell shaz. Not even a mention and after I offered you my erection too!
I had logged off but your erection kept tickling me while I was on e-bay, so I've come back on especially to let you know. Thanks very much Tiz(!), I do love you too, and would go as far as to say I love all of you, you're ace.
Cheers fellas (and the wee lassies that we need to see more often too), and thank you for making me laugh, making me cry, putting up with me, and caring for me xxx
Gona take a break now you'll be relieved to know, as talking too much shite again (though all heartfelt, honest)

You really need an answer to that question??? Lol
A belated THANK YOU to Ian for organising the trip. Most appreciated, much enjoyed, its been far too long since we bimbled in a Blaenau slate mine.
