Directions
Marked as “level” on the O/S map. As you head into Dinas Mawddwy from Bala, take the road marked on the map heading directly to the mine. Just before the road swings down to the right to cross a stream, there is a public footpath and gate on the left â€" park there and walk past the forest and follow the path until you find the old mine building(s) and the nearby adit with water coming out.

Flood Risk
Recently been dredged so at the moment you could walk in with normal walking boots and not get wet. No apparent risk of flooding.

Fool’s Gold

Description
Hailed as the largest gold producing mine in Mid-Wales, this mine never actually produced any gold at all even though large amounts of equipment were brought into to crush the ore.

The main adit runs in to a collapse of some substance with calcified formations in situ suggesting the collapse is aged. A short cross cut severs the main adit which is unstable and a pool of water there releases Hydrogen Sulphide when walking through it.

Plenty of interesting formations, mostly iron and copper. Plenty of Ochre to slop about in if you like too.
