I wondered about this shaft also. The report mentions Axton, Holywell and a bit of goggling produced a report by CPAT on the area when they monitored water main replacement in the late 90's. The report mentions several shafts and provides some grid-refs, descriptions and a couple of photos. I guess the fencing must be in poor repair if the cattle were able to get close enough to fall in...

Sorry for being a tractor nerd, but it looks like the machine owned by Glol farm. I know there are 2 shafts on his land but I thought they were in Glol woods and the photo looks more open than that.
