Post by: Ian A on Apr 27, 2011, 03:29 PM
Location
SJ 190 655

Directions
Make your way to the sewage works at Cilcain and park in the woodland recess just before the road terminates. Walk directly up the hill through the trees fro around 100feet and you will find a large spoil mound. Turn left to follow the fence line (heading to Valentine shaft (the upper entrance to Ogof Nadolig). The shaft is on the right, hidden in the trees close to but BEFORE Valentine shaft on the same lateral.

Access
Un-gated. Permission requirement unknown

Suggested Equipment

Length

Flood risk
Unknown

Shaft Attributes
A small shaft, probably an old vent shaft.

Description
A small and possibly awkward shaft leading down, possibly, 100 feet (this is a guess but based on what is known about the topography of the area).

This remains completely unexplored and, as it is small, it may be blocked at the bottom.

However, it is also likely that it meets the adit located within the bottom series of Ogof Nadolig which is currently blocked.

Unexplored Passages
It is entirely unexplored

I may have been down this some years ago. I think there was a bit of scaff on the surface I attached the rope to and abbed down. I don't remember it being particularly deep and it just ended in a small chamber with a sandy floor and walls. It may have originally connected to Nadolig and there has been a collapse...
