Triple dip minesession.

Visited with Iestyn, Richard T and a cheese and onion baguette.

The triple-dip minesesion is what we have named our trip, we toyed with various names, but as I'm posting this in the public part of the forum, and i should probably at least try to be a good boy, none of the others would be any good!

We met up at the lakeside cafe as we normally do when doing stuff in this area, Richard was there first as he traveled up the night before, i was there next with Iestyn turning up fashionably late like the diva he is. I grabbed a cheese and onion baguette from the cafe and off we headed up the hill to the cwmorthin parking spot.

we started to get kitted up when iestyn asked "are these mines wet" as punishment for been late, we answered "No mate, bone dry" this instantly made me feel better, all kind of warm inside. we finished getting our gear ready and off we went.

The plan was to have a look in, over and around what i think is Moel yr hydd, but not been a welsh'ie i'm not sure that is right?? anyway, we started by walking up to the lower entrance of Wrysgan, we intended to make our way through it and exit through one of the top chambers higher up the hill which we did, we had a good look around this place, climbing and squeezing through some of the colapsed chambers.

The trip through was quite uneventful, well apart from the flooded entrance adit which meant Iestyn had wet feet, such a shame! Once we had exited through the top, we stopped for a bite to eat before walking around the hill to the twill with no "I", it's a Twll (which as we all know isn't a real word)

We were going to climb into the twll, walk through Rhosydd and exit through number 9 adit, we wasnt doing any exploring in here, it was simply just a cut through, so we climbed down and into Rhosydd, strangely not the same part i normally exit from when doing the CRTT, i found this quite confusing as i had been told a number of times that the way we had just gone in couldn't be exited, clearly it could be, and much easier then the bit i normally go out of.

Anyway, in and through we went, coming out of number 9, now it was time to head for Conglog, i had no idea where this was, Richard tried to tell me, but i had been where he was telling me it was a load of times and had never seen it, so presumed i was misunderstanding him, but off we went, following Richard, we soon got to conglog, which was exactly where Richard had said it was, i had walked to within 3 foot of the adit a number of times and had never seen it. Richard said there was a possible through trip, but requires SRT kit and rope, neither of which we had with us, this left a simple walk in walk out (of the same adit) option, which we did, Conglog was actually really small, but it was nice to see it as it was somewhere i had never been.

we had a good look about then turned around and came back out, before heading back to the cars.

trip time was about 6.5 hours, we had in reality probably only spent 4.5 hours underground, was a good laugh with good company, we then finished the day with a pint in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
