Title: Rhiw Crown Manganese Mine
Post by: Ian A on Jun 30, 2013, 03:22 PM
Location
SH 222 282

Directions
Got to “Rhiw” (on the Llyn Peninsula) and park close to the mine where the footpath joins a road junction (there is a passing place you can park in â€" it’s big enough to park and pass). Walk along the footpath and you are walking above the mine and it is obvious from the holes and spoil where it is (within a couple hundred yards)

Access
No remains except a shaft

Suggested Equipment
Everything to descend a shaft

Length
Unknown

Flood Risk
Unknown â€" there are no remaining entrances except a shaft and that has not been descended so far as I know

Mine Attributes
Manganese

Description
On the Llyn Peninsula and miles from anywhere â€" there appears only to be surface remains now.

There is a shaft although rigging the shaft would be very troublesome due to there being nothing close by to attach a rope onto. I do not know whether descending the shaft will allow entry.

Unexplored Passages
Everything underground is unexplored

Digs
None known.
