Here's this weeks trip details...
Trip: Maeshafn Mine
Trip Details: A good old dirty mine, bit squeezy on the way in and out but more than doable.
Meet Time: 6.45pm
Meet Place: Maeshafn Village Centre - just park up anywhere. It's only a small village so you can't really get lost.
see you there
i'll be repairing the spar mine bolting if anyone wants a change but they'll be a lot of hanging around.:(
Me and Amy will be there, not sure on Paige yet. Is this mine in the knowledge bank? I can't seem to find it :-(
change of plan. im not going to make it but might see you in the glan later
left my anchors and drill in work so might join you in Maeshafn (my 5th attempt) or may go to spar with a newbie.
Amy can't make it tonight so will just be me coming from Sunny Rhyl
I am a taxi service tonight so cannot make it :( Shall be at the Glan though.
Who is going tonight? :S
Well .... I was intending to come (still can) but I am smothered in a cold.
If I don't come, is there anyone else to lead the trip ?
At the moment it seems to be just me and Tony and (no offence) if only person is coming I would rather stick my head in a hot bowl of Vic's vapour rub and wrap a towel around my face.
.... I got my cold from Tim    (the "no contact" is irrelevant as he insisted we were all to suffer and I am  )
Ian
If no other takers then think it's best to give this week a miss :(
Agreed .... I shall shortly start on the "hot toddies".
There is the dig a few hundred yards away with Murf if anyone still wants to go out ....
;)
Ian
Yeah, I'll go and help Murf, but can you give me directions to get to the dig please.
The first hot toddy is in progress thusly committing me to an evening of drunken slumber ... and no caving
Ian
Enjoy your toddies Ian, and hope you're back to 100% soon. I've checked forum for location of Murf's dig but all I can find is old trip notices which have the meeting point as "usual place", which sadly is no help to me. Where do I go from the layby with the red phone box?
Ok, it is a tw4t to find if you have not been there before as the dig is in a dip and under the cover of a tree (and Murf is hiding under the tree out of sight).
From the centre of the village - park on the main road at the end of the short lane that takes you to the Miners pub. Whilst stood in the centre, you can face the road heading towards Llanferres or you can face the opposite direction - you need to face the opposite direction. Drive along this road past the turning to Mold and you will see a private lane on the right within a couple hunderd yards with a public footpath. Park there and take the private lane on foot following the footpath. The house is called "Fynnon" something and you can see evidence of a well by their boundary wall.
Following the footpath over a stile and walk the footpath running along a fence line alongside some trees.
This opens up after a couple of hundred yards and you will see "open land" on your right (a field or two) - head towards them and head for the absolute lowest point (that is where the water is sinking and where Murf is digging). There are two large sinkholes with trees in both - it is the nearest one - you won't be able to tell until you actually get in the tree.
You might see Murfs fag smoke rising as a giveaway ....
Good luck !
:)
Ian
Jeez, lol. Right, I've spotted the private lane on google maps, so I'll go and look for Mick's smoke signals. Thanks Ian :)
