Title: Washing Neoprene socks advice please
Post by: Tony Salusbury on Mar 30, 2013, 10:05 AM
Bit of a daft question I suppose, but how do you guys n gals go about washing your neoprene socks? Would a machine wash end up wrecking them? I've just rinsed mine with clean water, but I imagine they'll get pretty grim after prolonged use, so what is the best way of giving them a good clean whilst prolonging the life of them?

Woman puts mine in the washing machine....

Probably been washed in excess of 50 times and they are still fine and dandy

ditto - mine go in the washing machine with a bit of washing detergent with the rest of my kit on a 40deg wash - and then go in the dryer on low setting. Mine are warmback socks. They've been through the process loads of times and still appear brand new.

my thinking regarding all my caving gear is that its gonna get knackered through use faster than its gonna get knackered washing/drying.

yer - they've been fine - i'm guessing it'll be high temperature that damages them rather than soap/water. deffo not risking high tumble drier setting.
