while the RAF have done a great job over the years, they just dont have the equipment or resources these days.
Bristow will invest millions into this and they do have years of experance in this field, they run search and rescue all over the world.
so S+R will now have the latest technology, more helicopters, years of experance and guess who'll be doing the actual job, yep, ex RAF pilots.
i see it as a win win situation.
if the yanks have anything to do with it you will be charged for an air lift, might stop all those daft tw4ts walking in the hill with there stilletoes on( i only wear mine on a sat night)
There are talks of more job loses at Valley as a direct result of this though. While I recognise Bristow may be world leaders in S&R, no-one knows the mountains of Snowdonia quite like the Valley lads. It would be interesting to know the figures of job losses and redeployment within the RAF.
