Awesome! I do believe the bit of kit he's using is the Novation Launch Pad. A similar sampler was also used by Gotye for their recent "somebody that I used to know" track. I'm such a geek!

It is indeed a launchpad, and I'd struggle to play that on one of my "proper" keyboards, let alone a pad with a layout like that.
