Trip cancelled due to threat of bad weather.
this trip has allready been posted for the week after.
Bella is not available on the week after.
Vikki did not know this when she suggested the different date.
It is quickly becoming apparent that a trip calender is not going to work.
a walk around mine, no ropes, Don't think I can make this particuar one, but, the one after maybe. I assume details for the one a week later are the same?

It seems there is nothing posted on the official list for the 26th / 27th January for non-SRT.
Somewhere there is a suggestion (by Vikki?) that I would lead a through trip in the Gold Mine, but the date given was an error. I was not asked about this, and I would have been pleased to lead a trip, but on a weekend when Bella can come.
I am not aware that there is a new requirement that anyone planning a new trip should inform Vikki etc before posting. I am aware there is an open opportunity for anyone to post a trip and invite others to join. We need more trips, not less. The role of UCET is to encourage and facilitate trips.
For some time I have tried to ensure there is a non-SRT trip in North Wales at least every other weekend when Bella can come, and also for most other weekends. This is because many of us find the Thursday evening trips either difficult to get to, or are too much of a rush. It is therefore important for us to be able to arrange trips for ourselves in the absence of a regular pre-planned program of 'official' UCET trips.
Subject to weather conditions, I plan to do the Gold Mine on Saturday 26th, as posted. This does not prevent anyone else doing another trip there on 2nd February if they wish to do so.

I think Dan is trying to say that potential trips should be forwarded to Himself/Vikki, so they can be kept in one place, and then we can all sing off the same hymn sheet...
Just to clarify;
EVERYONE is right about this ….
At the AGM we did discuss members organising trips and we agreed it was to be encouraged. Those present will also recall the discussion regarding liability and how it fell (pro-rata) to the most experienced person(s) on the trip regardless of whether that person(s) was the trip organiser.
We also discussed the “Calendar†and we agreed it was a great idea and Dan agreed to undertake the maintenance thereof (yes, bi-monthly for organising trips).
We also discussed that it would be “etiquette†for members who organise trips to let the trip organiser know.
I think what has happened here is that John has gone ahead and organised a trip (to be encouraged) but has not advised the trip organiser (Dan) who has not, therefore, updated the calendar. Being assumptive, I think the reason for this is obvious â€" John was not at the meeting and didn’t know.
The Calendar is a fantastic idea and I would really hate for it to fail. This is a “teething problem†only and I hope we can all move on in the right manner.
;)
Ian
...and the Gwynfynydd trip organized for Feb 2nd clashes with C/M shaft, so this weekend might be better (but I see where everyone's coming from with notifying the organizer)
Thanks for your view on this Ian.
May be teething troubles, but I can't see anything 'wrong' with members of the club getting together to do trips outside the main trip program. That is what a number of us have been doing in the last six to nine months in the absense of any program suitable for our interests. Bella and I are certainly not going to hang about at home because UCET has not posted a trip on the weekends that she can get out.
In fact the trip to the Gold Mine was high on our list of places to re-visit, and both Alison and Bella wanted to do it, and many others. It has been on our list for some time.
The 'problem' may also be that the February trip was put on the program without first checking that we were able to do it.
John, I've no issue at all with you organising trips, infact i agree with Ian, people should be doing. That said I asked you on the forum if you would lead the trip I posted and I've emailed you twice to ask, none of which you've replied to, which makes my job much harder.
The problem then is with the working of this Forum.
I don't have the time to search for and read every single comment on this forum.
If you need to ask me a question (in the absense of a PM system), then post me an e-mail.
Subject to the weather, I will be doing the Gold Mine this Saturday, with Bella and anyone else who would like to go there. I have other plans for the weekends when I do not have Bella.
As i say John, i did email you, twice, and my request on the forum was a direct reply to a comment you had posted. all that said, it's not the end of the world, it's a trip to wales!
my main concern at the moment is, i dont want to get into applying for permits for trips, and trying to arange people to lead the trip, for the trip to be cancelled a couple of days before it is supposed to happen.
as said, not to worry, sure these things will work their self out.

I have not received any e-mails from you recently. Where did you post them?

You don't need to. The Forum will tell you of any new topics, or replies to topics since your last visit. It's in green on each subforum, and each topic. Click on the "3 New" (or however many it happens to say) in green text to the topic, and it will skip straight to the new posts.

Just to clarify I know nothing about any of this to be honest.
However lets try and focus on making sure things run smoother for future trips.
I will speak to Tim and see if we can have the calendar on a separate tab on the forum so people aren't searching through the forum for it.
John - if you could let me or dan know the dates Bella is free and trips you'd like we can put these on the calendar if that helps :-)
The calender is a "Sticky" and is stuck at the top of the trips thread along with the "wish list".
It will be found first by looking at the trips thread or recent topics (which is why is was made sticky)
;)
Ian
I know Ian but most people just pull up recent posts and it's two pages back if they do this.
Don't worry, I've thought if an easy way for Tim to do this so I can just ask and see what he says.
Thanks for your very sensible approach Vikki.
As in many divorce settlements, it was agreed that I will have Bella every other weekend, and every Wednesday evening. She is also with me about half of her school holidays. As you know she really loves cave and mine exploring, and is very upset if there is nothing arranged that she can join in with on the days she is with me. Life is so booring without any mine to be in.
I can also see the time is fast approaching when she will want to be company of her own age, and will not want to be seen in the same street as her 'ole Dad'. I am surprised that she has put up with me for so long.
I have Bella next weekend 26 - 27 Jan, and then every other weekend.
I will post trips we plan to do, so anyone else can join us. I would like to do some of the mines nearer to us with Ian's guidance, Snowdon Secret Mines - Cwm Bleiddiaid and Lliwedd mines, Dwrs-y-Coed Copper Mine(s?), Rhyd Ddu slate mine.
Bella would also like to do as a weekend trip Maeshaffn and Bog Mine - when it is dry enough to walk the lower passage.

Yes, it was actually very mild this moring, but is frightful now. We should have gone, but other people were not keen because of the threat of bad weather.
I wish we had known that you were in Devils Kitchen because we could have come over to see you.
