Finally got to get my latest mine fix this afternoon, around Hanging Flat mine in Derbyshire. It's a small mine, wouldn't be worth the travel on its own, but we had other business in the area to attend to.
That said, for such a small place there's a generous amount to see. We found the entrance with no problem, and after a sufficiently awkward entry the space opens out into a nice walkable mooch throughout its relatively short length.
We were in here for about an hour, although if you weren't photographing you could see the lot in about 20 minutes I reckon.

There's a fair amount of miscellaneous stuff and hefty timbers in some sections.

But then, having exhausted the mine, we headed out through the awkward access and continued on. It's a charming little place actually, even though it's pretty tiny and not hugely inspiring!

Thanks for stopping by,

Did you find any of the polystryrene boulders near the entrance?
they were left there from the filming of a cave rescue for the itv drama "peak practice" around 1994/5, I'm fairly sure it was season 3 eppisode 1 if you REALLY want to try and find it.
Aye, the polystyrene boulders we all there, however the timber framework has fallen to bits and was stacked up against the sides of the level.
I'd heard it was used for filming at one point, didn't know it was Peak Practice though!
Hi Bearded Dragon!
Thanks for posting your story and the pictures. They are wonderful!
Can I suggest that you post information on the 'Knowledge Bank' about this mine? If the mine is sensitive, then post in the Private Knowledge Bank.
Really great photos .... obviously a nice little mine ... thanks for sharing them with us :) :) :)
