Hi, I'm Iestyn, 19 from the Porthmadog area. I've recently taken an interest in old mines, and I've been to Cwmorthin a couple of times and I wanted to get to know someone with more experience than myself before venturing into any other mines (I've done a bit of rope and water training with the ambulance service but don't think it's a good idea going on my own!)
hi lestyn
welcome to the forum if there is anything we can help you with just ask and someome will churp up.
Hi lestyn, Yeh it isnt a good idea to visit caves / mines on your own, but there plenty of active people on here so theres normally something going on most weekends / thursday nights

Hello!
Bella and I live near Bangor.
We try and do a trip at least once most weekends. Next Sunday (16th Dec) we may do the Parc Mine near Llanwrst. Alison Webster may do a posting on the forum web site. We hope to do Maenofferen with Richard Timms as a guide soon.
Do you have your own transport?
John Nicholson
Hi John. I do have my own transport. I'm free most weekends and I'd love to come along on one of your trips, if you'll have me!
Of course we will have you - or anyone so long as they are interested in exploring underground. The trips we do on weekends are not strictly UCET organised trips so we do not mind if people come who are not full UCET members. We do not do any SRT rope work, but we do often get quite wet and muddy.
Brilliant! I haven't done much rope work, so that sounds ideal!
A full and royal welcome to Lestyn who is now a full member of the club ...
Welcome on-board Lestyn !

Welcome on board Iestyn, that means I'm no longer the newest member :P
Now you're a full member we'll even spell your name correctly (I'm assuming it's Iestyn and not Lestyn?)
I joined a few months back and have been out at least once a week with the club, I've met so many nice & interesting people and learned a great deal from them.
I'm based in Rhos on Sea so any trips further a field, you're welcome to meet me here and jump in with me :woohoo:
Thank you! (it is Iestyn, but I'm well used to Lestyn. it happens all the time. usually when I buy stuff on ebay...)
I look forward to joining you on trips, you all seem like a friendly bunch and thanks for the offer of a lift to trips further afield, I might just take you up on that!
Iestyn, welcome!
Earlier today i gave you full UCET level access to the forum.
Look forward to meeting you.
If you have any problems - specifically website based (and apols for the site current state of dis-repair, i'm snowed under at the moment and am mid way through a rebuild!) just let me know and i'll do my best to help you out.
:-)
dare i ask????

Nope! I blame computer text, 'I' should have a line at the top and bottom. looks like a lowercase 'L' otherwise!
