2013 Subscription Rates
UCET Subs are due now for the 2013 year.
Please help the treasurer by getting your subscriptions in on time and please likewise help the hapless secretary so that BCA insurance cards can be ordered in a timely manner.
Subscriptions are £37 each (£20 club subs and £17 insurance)
*Please note : Insurance for full time students or under 18's is £8 per year and not £17 - please reduce your subscriptions accordingly if you qualify
Discount is available for "family" membership which is £20 (club subs) for the first person and then £10 (in total) for the remaining family members. Then add £17 each for insurance. To qualify this means you must be a genuine household family.
If your subs are unpaid as the at the date of the AGM (10th Jan 2013) you will not be able to vote or participate in the decision making processes.
.... PLEASE get your subs in on time.
For YOUR convenience, our illustrious web master has set up a UCET paypal account and you can pay using paypal at

[quote="Mad-Dan" post=11671]I asked this question the other week.

as far as bca ins im not sure there is an age.
as for club as long as the minor caves with his\her guardian at ALLTIMES i dont think there is an age limit, common sense prevails obv
My lad has shown an intrest in doing a few more trips and i'm interested in getting him membership, he's 13.
it also, with any luck gives me chance to get him some propper srt training/experance in a safe enviroment.

we do have a paypal account linked directly to the ucet bank account. but it might be easier to pay via ians own and then he can more easily record those members who have paid - or not.

cheers tim, looks like he would be covered then.. obviously he wouldnt be comming on any "big" trips, but it would be nice to take him on a few of the walk around ones.
Paypal account added to the the thread header (thanks Tim)
Dan, yes your son can join - just keep in mind that you are his guardian and legally responsible for him. You will also get the family discount (ie. knock of £10 off the total if you and he join together)
:)

How does this work,
It is a combination of banking theft and a miracle of science.

Well I believe you but how do I use it, an explanation for Luddites is required.

OK I think I have done it now.
Can people like myself and Adam (Bearded Dragon) join this way?
[quote="Mad-Dan" post=11671]I asked this question the other week.

Just thought I may add my little knowledge on this front, if it helps. Last year, as an under 18, I payed half price for BCA but it required me to be with parent or guardian at all times. That's all I know :-) im sure there are better sources though :-D

Dan, I don't know about this but, happily, we have a resident expert who is in the "thick" of the BCA - our very own guru - Les W ...
Perhaps Les could clarify the position when he spots this thread .... ?
:)
Ian
Ian, Tim posted a link to info on the BCA site. not really expecting anyone else to be "responsable" for him on trips, and seen as he doesnt drive, i cant see him doing many trips without me, but if the club would be happy to offer him membership, and BCA can offer some kind of green card, i'll get him joined up.
He's pretty keen to do a few more trips, and i'm happy to take him, and in some kind of effort to make me look to be trying to be a responsable parent, i really should get him in a club and stuff.
most family members think i just go f'ing about in dangerous disused and abandand mines, so in an attempt to show them i dont do that at all (or do i?) i'll get him a club mambership and some proper kit
Dan,
We would love to have him as a member and is he very welcome to join.
As his parent and guardian you have a legal duty of care for him (no worries there) - is the discounted BCA insurance I don't know about :)
Ian
well i'm sure if there is any difference in cost, you'll let me know when you've sorted it all out
I will but I am looking towards our loremaster Les W for wisdom
BCA Membership is discounted by 50% for students in full time education or under 18s (£8 for the year but reduced each quarter).
http://british-caving.org.uk/?page=122
If you want BCA's publications, or to join BCRA (and why not?) then you should join BCA as a DIM. BCRA membership is free to students and under 18s...
This works out as £16 but you get your own copy of BCA's Annual Handbook, occasional Newsletters and Speleology (allegedly three times a year...)
so, if he just joins through the club, it costs £17 for the insurance, if he joins as a direct individual member, it costs £16, but he gets the free publications..
to be honest, it just sounds easier to give ian some money and let him deal with it :D

If he joins through the club (CIM membership) it is £8 per year.
If he joins as a DIM it is £16 but with BCA's publications and FREE BCRA membership as well...
I knew Les would come up trumps - thanks Les B)
.... Initial page is now updated to include discounted insurance as per above ;)
Ian
Ian i have just paid by paypal.
Mine will have to wait till Friday, but I also need a membership form for my lad
Subs sent. I'd better get off my backside and go on a few trips now.
Paypal sent.
How do newbies go about joining?
Hi Lestyn,
Hopefully the membership process will be easier in the new year after we have had the AGM (second week in Jan) but for now you need to complete a membership form (from the secretary) which I can email to you.
Can you e-mail me at Ian@ucet.org.uk please and I will email the membership form back to you.
Subs are £37 (£20 club subs and £17 BCA insurance) unless you are a student in which case it is £28 (£20 club subs and £8 insurance)
Regards,
Ian Adams
(Secretary)
Just paypal'd mine and jay's
ta'la
I have Turbo's money for Subs here - I'll get it over in the next few days via Paypal.
i will put my new address on my contact details to send my bca card to ...
clicking on the paypal link just takes me to my email - which is not what normally happens with paypal. Confused!

Phil you need to sign into paypal and go to Send Money and pay £37 to paypal@ucet.org.uk. Put your name there as a reference.
OK.... and who do I tell if, on the third attempt it has accepted the payment info but I suspect, lost the payment reference?
there is no payment referance, if the money sent, you'll have a confermation email.
Ian's opening blurb on this thread says to use your name as reference when paying?
just send your money, then text/email/facebook ian to tell him you've sent it, sure they'll find it.
let's hope some penniless lapsed UCET member hasn't read this and claims that my money is his.... money sent. Apparently.
Thanks D&D
Phil,
We got it .... Just in time, I am sending off for the insurance tomorrow !
;)
