I was chatting to a mate about old mines etc. and he told me about a number of adits in the woods adjacent to his farm in a tiny place called Dawn near Dolwen Abergele. He's not ventured there for a good 20 years now but he can remember roughly where they are.
I can't find anything on my plethora of old maps of the area or on any forums. Does anyone on here have any info on them?
The land the adits are on belongs to Coed Coch estate, so I'm guessing permission wouldn't be difficult as I used to fix their tractors.
Any info gratefully accepted ;)
to give you an idea of their location click here (http://www.mine-explorer.co.uk/mines/Gofer_337/Gofer.asp) and follow the marker east. The adits are just by the letter 'D' of the word Dawn!
Trip to these ?
Been, not really worth a trip, but will happily show you where they are sometime. All trial adits, no interesting features, no artifacts, plenty of water, plenty of barbed wire. ;) :P
