Title: Thursday 1st November
Post by: John Nicholson on Oct 26, 2012, 09:49 PM
Hi HOSS!

Its Bella's Half Term, so she can come this Thursday.

She would love to do the Bog Mine.  Can we make a request for experienced guides and also a life line for the winze?

I Know there is activity again at Nadolig and the other place but is anyone prepared to lead BOG MINE on Thurs?

I suggest that the trip should only be to the bottom level and back due to the nature of the voyage through to New Shaft?

Thanks Hoss!
Yes, down to the bottom passage and back would be fine.

Hi John
You do not need a guide for bog mine as the route is easy and well trodden, it is up to you to pick up clubs equipment for the trip if you do not have any you will need a 60ft of rope and a steel oval or pear you can lifeline this incline on an italian hitch. ring Mike and book the equipment you require and then let him know at what time you would like to pick it up and stick to it, remember he has a life too.
                       Mick

Thanks for the kind advice Mick, but I would not take Bella down Bog Mine on my own - just in case.  Also, I don't know where it is situated.  If there is no further interest in a Bog Mine trip then we will probably come to Nadolig (which Bella also likes).

I agree John, i'm happy to join you at nadolig, I think parking has been a bit tight so can I suggest meeting at cilcain bridge at 6.30pm and going in one car from there?

Thanks for asking Mike but I'm a caving virgin and don't have any SRT experience for the mine trip.  I can't wait to join you all on a trip sometime soon, but I'll wait until you're doing something a bit more gentle for the first one.

Looking forward to having a pint and a natter with you tomorrow  B)

So, is it definately Nadolig you're all doing then? May I join, would need some times and places though :-) I've been in Nadolig, but can't remember it too well.

Cheers

I'm not sure if we will come yet.  It's a long way for a tight little squeeze.  But clearly Bella wants to go.  If we turn up then I might go for a walk in the woods.

Cheers Dan.  Looks like a fun cave to play in. If you're going there again anytime soon I'd love to tag along, however I have an extremely boring 'Chamber of Trade' meeting tomorrow evening in Rhos on Sea until 7ish so I'll have to say no this time around.

Thanks for your advice and guidance though  :)

Ok, provisionally I'll be coming. Just on way down to Leicester so hopefully the traffic doesn't make me late tonight. See you later :-)

If you go for a walk along the riverbank on the same side as Nadolig, there is at least one other hole to have a look in. One is an abandoned GCC dig.

I should have posted earlier but been out this afternoon.  We will not be comming so no Nadolig this evening for Bella, (who is working on her Art homework about Andy Warhole), and no walk along the bank of the river in the dark for me.

What were GCC digging?  A mine or a cave?  Why have Countryside Council for Wales not immediately acted against them as they did against our members digging out the back entrance to Poachers?

It's a really old dig on the verge of collapse so probably before the suits got involved.

It was a mine, the name escapes me (as usual). The dig has been abandoned for a long long time.
