Title: Saturday 3rd November - TRYFAN North Face
Post by: John Nicholson on Oct 22, 2012, 09:50 PM
PLEASE NOTE.... This trip will now be on SATURDAY 3rd November. Watch this space for latest news.

We will be joined by an athletic group from Tunbridge Wells including Bella's sister Ruth, husband Sebastian St John, Sasha and Toby.

Propose we meet at car park at foot of Tryfan 10.00 am, but watch this topic to confirm nearer the date.

Bring packed lunch and drink.

We may well all have a party afterwards at the Tandori Porthmadog or Oakeley Arms Hotel.

If the weather on the day is deemed to be too bad for this trip then we will still do something less exposed, for example up the Gribbin Ridge down Devils Kitchen, or even Watkin to Snowdon.

I have been told that it does not have a 'face'.

John,
Love to do this with you if I can get there. Please let me know if you spot anyone that might be passing Wrexham.

Richard Sawyer may be joining us - at least I hope he is as one of the leaders!
I will keep everyone informed as this trip develops - so watch this topic.

you don't need a leader just follow your nose or the crowd in front of you

Happy to help lead too as I've done it many times, many ways - usually not up the 'tourist trail'.

Hello John,
Now strictly speaking its not the North Face of Tryfan, its the North Ridge, so there's no way you can make this sound like an ascent of the Eiger. However it is a jolly fine scramble and I would love to come along, probably accompanied by the dog Maxi. She has been up there several times already, like me. You should prepare yourself for the leap from Adam to Eve on the summit. We will all enjoy this enormously.

By the way, I can accomodate one person from Wrexham on the day. If you wanted to do something slightly more challenging than the North Face, there is a good grade 1 scramble on the East face, which me, Richard and the dog maxi have all done before.

Yes, normally I agree with Mike Leachey.  But the reason why I mentioned a leader is that we are actually hosting the group from Tunbridgewells.  They include my duaghter Ruth and her husband Sebastian St John who run Cross Fart Tunbridgewelks.  They were very concerned to have a 'leader' who knows the route and were even prepared to 'pay' for someone.  I did not volunteer (because I may struggle to keep up with them, and you can't have a leader who is at the back).

At the moment Seb is very busy with school work (he's a teacher), and so I do not know how many Welks will be comming, or how unfit they are.  They did do the Three Peaks Challenge a few weeks ago, and the sight of naked Tryfan inspired them to come back again.

Thanks for your interest Mike G. If the PM system was working I would contact you privately, to ask your e-mail and phone number so I can pass on to 'Welsh Lass' who is also in Wrexham and very much wants to come on our trips, but can't for lack of transport.

Can you send me an e-m to biopoweruk@hotmail.com ?

Dog is also welcome.
