I have organised a trip with Ed, the secretary of Derbyshire caving club. He has kindly agreed to take us around wood Copper mine on either the 21st of October. There is usually a small charge to enter the mine, but he has agreed to waiver this cost for UCET.
Please post below your interest.
meet location and timeMeet time will be 10am at the carpark behind the Wizzard inn. The pub is here:Pub (http://goo.gl/maps/p2HTs)
The carpark is here: Carpark (http://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=53.292682,-2.212519&spn=0.001191,0.002401&t=h&z=19)
What to expectThe mine is quite easy to navigate, with some ladders and some bits to crawl through. The mine is quite sandy and dry in nature, and as such a caving suit is not really needed. no cows-tails needed, just a lunch and some chocolate for me.
There are many photo opportunities and Ed usually gives quite an interesting and detailed explanation of the mine whilst wandering through the system, presuming that he isn't hungover. More information on the mine can be found here:clicky (http://www.ucet.org.uk/index.php/forum/21-knowledge-bank/3705-wood-copper-mine)
Was thinking the same
personally, ive always questioned joel's sexuallaty
Is it because i don't bring random girls on trips anymore? :(
Vikki is not 'random' - more 'unpredictable'.
But always welcome to add some sparkle to our trips.
you don't know joel from the old days

Just a bump really. The trip is this weekend and Ed is asking for a show of numbers.
Is everyone on the list still able to attend?
Bella and I are still planning to come, but we do need to know the schedule for the day ASAP because we have to plan our lives. Let's not have another fiasco like the last MT trip, with a last minute warning of a 9.00 at the lid.
I can also help with lifts if needed, as we will come up via the A55 / M56.
Im still up for it im sure vik is too
I'm 99.9% sure i CAN make it.
John, the time and place has been in the first post since the trip was posted

OH NO john its a 10 am start and its efin MILES away     sorry
Yup, all the info is on the first page. Only thing that will change now are the number of people attending :)
I'm now a deffo, Sean Taylor is also comming.
do we need any kit for finlow Hill and the cobalt mine?
can I bring my camera?
No specific kit as far as I know. All walk or crawl about systems. Camera is recommended :)
just checking about the camera, you know what some clubs are like.
Yup, no worries. Can't see there being any problem at all to be honest
Cameras are fine although pack small for the cobalt mine as its rather crawly in places :)
But no specific gear required. We do still also have some beer left over in the club hut from the party :)
No change in my plans : I will be there. B)
What time do you expect us to leave Alderley Edge on Sunday?
Is there room for another one on this trip ? If there is, I would like to come along.
There is room Mike as I must sadly drop out - must say I am frustrated because I was especially looking forward to the Colbalt mine as I have never been in one.
:(
Ian
Certainly room for more.
No problem Ian, we can arrange another trip after the new year.
John, Probably no later than 5pm.
Thanks Joel, that helps me plan the weekend.
Looking forward to the trip.
John have you sent you email about lift and pick up time.
Thanks,
Ali
Richard and I are travelling together from Wrexham.

The IRONY in your post makes my sides hurt.
Really good trip today. Great mine, and great company. Thank you to everyone who attended and a BIG thank you to ED for leading around Wood mine, and thank you to Damian and Lauren for helping us all get out of the maze that is Cobalt mine.
Good call by Ed on doing the very muddy Cobalt mine first, as I'm sure none of us would have done it after the Wood mine trip.
Will edit the pictures after work tomorrow, I'm exhausted now and have a full weekends pictures to edit.
Yes Mr "Don't need caving suit, walk around dry trip" Colk.. it was a good day, i'm so happy i jibbed out of the Cobalt mine half way round though.
I'd quite like a proper look around down there though, with caving gear on, some of those squeezes looked fun, but i dont think i would want to do the one you went through, it looked like it was giving birth when i was pulling you back out.
Thanks to Joel for organising it, and big thanks to Ed for letting the riff-raff in and showing us around.

It was a great trip today. Thanks to Joel for organising and Ed for showing us round.
Great call to do the cobalt mine first! Copper mine is very colourful as Dan says in his trip report and well worth a visit.
:)
Another memorable day beneath the earth. A big thank you to Joel for setting it up and to Ed for showing us around this unique mine.
PS. Lovely photos in the Trip Report section Dan: they perfectly capture the magical atmosphere of the place.
Glad you all enjoyed it and sorry that the water was a little higher than expected in the lower section  Oh and the dead mice
It was a wonderful day trip to Alderley Edge and to meet Ed Coghlan and other members of Derbyshire Caving Club. The mines were fantastic, and what a contrast from the tight squeezyness and intimacy of the cobalt mine to the vastness of West Mine. I ceratinly would love to come again and see more of the other systems in the area. Bella really enjoyed all of it! - despite the screams about the floating headless dead mice. That passageway is so beautiful, we don't really mind wet as you will discover if you come to explore OHA or Poachers with us.
I was also very impressed by the whole situation I saw there with such positive co-operation between all parties, the National Trust, the landowners, Countryside Council and the Caving Club. The 'Surgery' was fantastic - as also the old beer.
I very much enjoyed the information and conversation whilst sitting in the sun outside the Wizzard. Thanks to Loraine for the information about Nottingham 3D imaging. I found the web site and what they have done is far beyond anything I had ever imagined was possible.
No problem John :) What was the site you were taking about with the recording history in america?
Foxfire, and what then became the Foxfire Foundation.
It was all done long before the advent of the internet, but is so relevant to what you were saying about people interviewing the older folk in the community because all the things they know will dissapear when they die. I will try and find links to it on the internet.
Can you send me an e-mail so we can keep in contact? I am biopoweruk@hotmail.com
Many thanks i shall do some reading :) Have emailed you now
Johno takes up a new religion..
