CURRENT STATUS ON ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS EVENING....
Will everyone meet at Cilcain Bridge 6.30pm. We can then sort out who goes where with whom. Choices are...
1) Deep dig / repair collapse at bottom of Rhyd Alun
2) Easy trip in OHA. Wet and slippery and some scrambling but no SRT.
It seems we may have...
John N, Toby, Sasha, Bella, Tom + friends, Dylan, Ian, Doug, Badger, Howyl (I don't know who this is?), Ali Wiseman, Deano, Vikki.
We will also do Hendre Spar Mine meeting at Royal Oak, Hendre at 2.30 to 3.00pm. Easy walk through trip with lots of secured ladders.
We are about to leave Bangor, so can't receive any more messages.
---------------------------------------
I will have Bella (15), and my grandchildren - Sasha and Toby (aged 16 and 14).
Can anyone suggest a suitable trip? They did Poachers last year.
How about OHA to the precipice. Is Hendre Spar mine still open?
We could do both because we plan to be in Flintshire most of the afternoon.
*If* I can get to/from the Spar mine, I'll happily come along. I want a few more pictures from there, and wouldn't mind a Peek at the water level.
OK New-stuff ( I do wish you wouild use your real name and picture so I know who I am chatting to).
We may do Hendre in the afternoon, and then have chips somewhere and then do the official trip.
Watch this topic for updates!
I think there is an intention to return to Rhyd alyn as well. If you want to go down OHA then you may need someone compitent to life line your family down the electron on entry/exit.
I am away this week so please all arrange your trip on here?
Mick- are you digging this week?
I do wish you wouild use your real name and picture so I know who I am chatting to.
That's not happening I am afraid John. I am, and always will be, NewStuff on an Exploration/Mine/Caving website.
If You look to Your left though, there is a List of Online Users that lists real names as well as Forum ones, and should help You out if You're having trouble remembering who I am.
Thanks Hoss, But I am sure I must not be the only person who gets totally confused by disguised avatar names. Until last week I had a totally different person in my mind when I was reading posts from Mad-Dan. I also thought Little Joe was Tom from Derbyshire CC.
I don't want to divert the theme of this topic though, and welcome your guidance on trips for this comming Thursday. Exam results will arrive, so I expect Bella will spend some time in the morning with friends, but I hope we can get over to Flintshire to do a mine (either Belgrave or Hendre) between 3.00pm and 5.0pm. Then get something to eat before the 6.30pm trip.
Sasha and Toby are fine on electron ladder - and I now have one.
I'm Tom from Derbyshire CC and so's my wife!
i woud like to do Rhyd alyn agen
What are we doing this Thursday ?
... Is there really an intention to go back to Rhyd Alyn ????
... Is that the trip ????
Ian
Me and two others at least are looking to get underground on Thursday evening, we've spoke mildly about an evening wander in OHA. I'd be happy to explore without the means of a fixed 'leader' with aid of leaving some shiny markers I've got. But of course, if anybody here is at a slightly loose end in not knowing what's what - you're welcome to come help find our way around.

Oh, and John. Just for the record, I'm TLH (Tom L Howard). Red Clio usually. Derbyshire CC, Small and usually get shoved in any hole slightly above fist size!
Introduction over :D
I'll be where ever when its decided where everyone is going :p

There is always OHA ian :P.
I also seem to remember that soot shaft hasn't been done for a while either :P ;)
Joy :S
Yes TLH, I do apologise. I thought you were 'Little Joe'.
I do wish that folk would post their real names and a recognisable picture.
I have enough difficulty remembering names as it is, so the task is many times more difficult if everyone has two names and two images.
I can understand why some people want to hid behind an avatar when they are on different types of forums, but UCET is a group of friends who want to share their enjoyment of underground exploration. Surely we don't need to hid behind avatars?
I am thinking that I will take Bella, Sasha and Toby to Hendre in the later afternoon, probably leaving the Royal Oak Pub at 2.30 - 3.00 pm. Anyone else is welcome, and I can provide helmets and lights.
We will then have something to eat at the pub at Pantymwyn, and get to Cilcain Bridge by 6.30 pm.
I think Bella intends to take up Mike and Tim's Challenge and join them on the Rhyd Alun dig, but I do ask them to look after her and in their excitement not to do anything that may marr her innocent enthusiasm for this sport.
I will take Toby and Sasha and anyone else to OHA. We may go up to the precipice, and may go a little way into the connecting routes. It depends very much upon how they feel about the place. It would be great if Ian and Deano can join us, plus anyone else. I have an electron, but people who want to free climb the entrance are welcome to do so before we drop the ladder.
John did you check last time to make sure the ladder is long enough
I am sure it will work well enough, but may not actually trail on the floor at the bottom. If I recall corectly it is an easy scramble up the first part anyway. Also, I have loads of long spreadders that can give more length from the top.
Hi Hoss I will be at the dig on thursday night as the new crane lifts and turns the spoil around and on to the spoil heap with little or no effort and picks up heavier loads
I will be at OHA
i won't be anywhere im afraid . i seem to have shin splints??? whatever they are there a bloody pain in the arse

what you will need is a shovel to scrape ALL the shit off your caving suit.
or just do what the rest of us do and go for a swim in the river when you get out
It will be great if you can come with us to OHA Dylan.
It is a great cave, and not really as bad as everyone says about the mud! At least the parts we will do, and it all washes off on the way out.
Can I suggest we all meet at Cilcain Bridge? 6.30 pm. We can then sort out who goes with whom.
I will meet you at the bridge at 6.30 then.
The thought of OHA makes me want to cry, but i shall be there with sam
I can't make it, but have fun.

Never let you out of my sight old man. And you should've been fresh after letting me and doug do all the digging :-)
(Ok, ok, so you did a bit - but had to stop when you chipped your nail varnish) ;-)
We all had a great time in OHA after some delays trying to pass Bella down to the people in Rhyd Alun. Deano did not cry but was a great help stretching my ladder so it worked well. Thanks also to everyone (especilally Vikki) for all the help guiding Toby and Sasha through the more challenging places!
May be we can resume the dig in Rhyd Alun next week - whilst others do Poachers?
We also did Hendre Spar Mine, and found the water level was about 15 feet below the floor of the level above the water - i.e. the floor where the arched bridge is situated.
It was a good trip. DefinItely the best cave I've done in north wales. Would love to do the full trip now
I would love to be in there with you Dylan, Tim and Boydy - just to watch you all scrambling about the place like wild monkies.
I would also like you to take a new member called Chris Phillips for a more demanding climb in OHA. Chris comes with us sometimes from Tregarth.
