Description
Adit #1
A clean cut adit runs into the hillside from the public path which quickly brings the water to knee depth.
The adit unusually swings round with a long, sweeping arc with some cross adits running off. A couple of these cross adits are entirely submerged suggesting that pumps may once have been used although no sign is left of any machinery.
There are a couple of areas where shafts lead upwards in some cases with fallen rocks at the bottom. These appear to be areas where old man has chased a vein or two but may well lead to another level.
Adit #2
Above the waterfall and around 300 yards further upstream.
There are three entrances to this adit. Essentially, an adit cuts through the rock face on the left hand side of the stream (as you walk up) and is intersected by an entrance on the front as it continues out to the other side of the rock.
Total length is only around 400-500 feet.
There is a chamber where the 2nd entrance intersects and this is filled with litter.
Cave #1
Above the waterfall and to the left, this can bee seen by walking to the waterfall’s edge and looking upstream and to the left.
This cave has a large entrance but appears to be nothing more than a grotto and is no more than 20 feet in length. A mystery given it’s huge aperture.
Cave #2
Located above adit #2, this is a small entrance which leads to a small cavern (big enough for 3 adults). The passage continues but is too small to pass although the floor is eminently diggable. Just one problem; there is a *** of spiders and they glisten, crawl and look extremely uninviting
Unexplored Passages
All of the upwards leading “holes†remain unexplored.
A passable, muddy belly crawl remains unexplored.
Digs
A potential dig in Cave #2
