Directions
At Trefriw, take the minor B road opposite the Fairy Falls Inn up to Crafnant reservoir.
As you drive up the road you will see an imposing mountain on your left (the first picture in this thread). This is Mynydd Deulyn (You can see spoil running down the mountainside).
The best approach is from the Klondyke Lead mine where there is a footpath that leads straight to the mountain/mine.
Access
Ungated & open. Permission unknown but thought not to be required.
Suggested Equipment
None
Length
Unknown but substantial.
Flood risk
None known.
Mine Attributes
Indicative of a slate mine but with heavy mineral intrusion (through limestone). It is not currently known what was actually mined here but is supposedly the oldest slate mine in Wales.
Description
There are numerous entrances working their way up the mountainside. All entrances lead into passages (sometimes quite lengthy) and large caverns which might normally be associated with slate mining and some of the levels connect with each other by way of rifts and shafts.
The walk up the mountainside is somewhat arduous due to the large amount of spoil.
The innards of this mountain is rich with minerals and the decorations are fantastic.
This mine is in close proximity to the Klondyke Lead mine.
Digs
None known.
